Kevin Durant joins Jordan and LeBron in an exclusive club after signing a lifetime contract with Nike

Kevin Durant, a two-time NBA champion, and Nike revealed their lifetime agreement on Friday. LeBron James and Michael Jordan are the only other players to have signed such a pact.

Durant and Nike, who have been partners since Durant's rookie season in the NBA in 2007, made the announcement on the Boardroom website.

“A true honor to be in the game for life with Nike,” Durant said on social media.

The 34-year-old American forward has averaged 29.1 points per game after being dealt from Brooklyn to Phoenix earlier this season. He has also assisted the Suns in making it to the second round of the NBA playoffs. They play Denver on Saturday to begin a best-of-seven series.

Durant and Nike have partnered to create 15 trademark shoes, with a 16th in the works. Nike also supports Durant's grassroots basketball efforts, which include refurbishing basketball courts in underserved areas of the globe.

The new agreement will keep up these efforts.

Durant stated in a statement, “I couldn't have thought of how far we'd go in our collaboration when I initially joined with Nike.

“Our artistic and charitable work has been incredible. Together, we have seen the globe and created a company that will now last forever. I'm eager for the future and grateful for this opportunity to join some distinguished organization.

The two NBA championships that Durant won with the Golden State Warriors in 2017 and 2018 saw him win the NBA Finals MVP award each time. The 13-time All-Star also earned the NBA regular season MVP award in 2014.

As a part of the US NBA star lineup, Durant has also been a part of the last three Olympic gold medal teams.

Kevin Durant, one of the finest basketball players in the world, has spent the last 16 years as a valuable member of the Nike family, according to Nike Executive Vice President of Sports Marketing John Slusher.

“We look forward to serving the next generation of athletes together in the future.”
