A private instructor who reportedly pretended to be a scientist with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and conducted media interviews in Surat, where he claimed to have constructed the lander module for the Chandrayaan-3 moon mission, has been detained by police, according to authorities.<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-153340″ src=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/theindiaprint.com-surat-man-arrested-for-posing-as-an-isro-scientist-participating-in-the-chandrayaan-3-mission-images-9.jpg” alt=”theindiaprint.com surat man arrested for posing as an isro scientist participating in the chandrayaan 3 mission images 9″ width=”1245″ height=”697″ srcset=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/theindiaprint.com-surat-man-arrested-for-posing-as-an-isro-scientist-participating-in-the-chandrayaan-3-mission-images-9.jpg 300w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/theindiaprint.com-surat-man-arrested-for-posing-as-an-isro-scientist-participating-in-the-chandrayaan-3-mission-images-9-150×84.jpg 150w” sizes=”(max-width: 1245px) 100vw, 1245px” title=”Surat man arrested for posing as an ISRO scientist participating in the Chandrayaan-3 mission 6″>

They said that the accused, Mitul Trivedi, who is in his late 30s, pretended to be an ISRO scientist in order to increase enrollment in his tuition programs in Surat, Gujarat.

The authorities said that he was detained here on Tuesday.

An official stated that Trivedi was the subject of a complaint after he was seen giving interviews to the local media after the Vikram lander safely touched down on the surface of the moon on August 23 and claiming to have developed the module of Chandrayaan-3.

In order to prove his credentials, Trivedi reportedly pretended to be the “assistant chairman” of ISRO’s “Ancient Science Application department,” and even presented a phony employment letter dated February 26, 2022, he said.

According to a statement from the police, “a thorough investigation revealed that the man was in no way connected to ISRO’s Chandrayaan-3 mission and had made false claims to being an ISRO employee.”

He even generated a phony letter that claimed to be the “space research member” for ISRO’s upcoming “mercury force in space” project.

Despite not having participated to the ambitious project, he distributed false information about the ISRO, damaging the image of the organization with its Bengaluru headquarters, according to the statement.

According to the article, the defendants were charged with violating sections 419 (cheating by impersonation), 465 (forgery), 468 (forgery for the purpose of cheating), and 471 (using a forged document as real) of the Indian Penal Code.

Trivedi is a private teacher who pretended to be an ISRO scientist in front of the media, according to Additional Commissioner of Police Sharad Singhal, in order to get more pupils to his tuition courses.

“We contacted the ISRO, which said that the letter presented by the accused was not, at least initially, issued by it. Soon, the space agency will offer us a thorough response, he promised.

When asked why Trivedi pretended to be a scientist, Singhal said because Trivedi teaches private lessons and that making such a claim would have increased his student enrollment.

He allegedly claimed to have BCom and MCom degrees, the policeman stated.
