Following a strike by the World Cup champions that was started by the disgraced former head of the football federation forcefully kissing a player, the government announced on Wednesday that the majority of the women’s national team of Spain had decided to remain with the team.

The declaration came after hours of discussions over the course of the night over player requests for more reforms to the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) after the resignation of ex-president Luis Rubiales.<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-192095″ src=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/theindiaprint.com-regarding-his-acceptance-of-xis-invitation-to-visit-china-in-october-vladimir-puti.jpg” alt=”theindiaprint.com regarding his acceptance of xis invitation to visit china in october vladimir puti” width=”1330″ height=”745″ srcset=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/theindiaprint.com-regarding-his-acceptance-of-xis-invitation-to-visit-china-in-october-vladimir-puti.jpg 300w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/theindiaprint.com-regarding-his-acceptance-of-xis-invitation-to-visit-china-in-october-vladimir-puti-150×84.jpg 150w” sizes=”(max-width: 1330px) 100vw, 1330px” title=”The majority of Spanish women's footballers agree to play after the new agreement, but two leave the camp 6″>

The RFEF and the Spanish government have reached a number of agreements, which will be written up and approved tomorrow, said Victor Francos, secretary of state for sports, adding that two of the 23 players who had been called up did not want to stay with the team.

Mapi Leon and Patri Guijarro, who are leaving the team, were two of the 15 players that went on strike before to the World Cup to protest Jorge Vilda’s coaching style and other problems with the federation.

Both were “not in the right state” to participate in the next matches as they left the team camp on Wednesday. Neither took part in the successful campaign in Australia and New Zealand.

On Wednesday afternoon, the remaining players participated in their first practice under new coach Montse Tome.

Concerns that 19 players from Tome’s team might miss forthcoming Nations League games and jeopardize the team’s chances of competing in the 2024 Paris Olympics arose as a result of their strike in support of improvements they want to see implemented to the RFEF.

Players chosen by Tome gathered for a training camp in the hours before to the announcement of the pact even though they had declared themselves unavailable, with several expressing concern that they might face consequences if they refused to participate.

They may have been subject to penalties and even lost their right to play for up to five years, including in clubs.

Francos, Spain’s secretary of state for sports and head of the country’s High Council for Sports (CSD), said on Wednesday that individuals who choose not to participate would not be subject to punishment.

The Barcelona defender Leon told reporters, “It’s a fact that my and Patri’s condition is different from that of the rest of our teammates… we are not in the correct state.

We are happy because, in actuality, improvements are being done, and we are supporting our teammates wholeheartedly in this endeavor.

It’s really tough and very challenging, and… psychologically we are not supposed to be here, said Guijarro.

Leon will be replaced in the lineup by Valencia star Claudia Florentina, while Guijarro’s replacement has not yet been announced.

Both the men’s and women’s teams will now be referred to as the “Spanish national football team,” according to a statement from the federation posted on Wednesday.

Both teams have previously gone by the names “Spanish national football team” for the men and “Spanish women’s national football team” for the women.

“It is perfectly clear whether we are referring to our (men’s or women’s) champions,” interim RFEF president Pedro Rocha said. “Depending on the context, depending on the images.”

We feel that making it obvious that the two national teams are equal also enables us to progress toward a more equitable understanding of football since language shapes us as a culture.

The players have received a lot of positive feedback for taking a position to advance women’s football, particularly from Sweden, their opponents on Friday, and from the football community at large.

“My daughters will remember in the future what these women fought for,” said Xabi Alonso, a former Real Madrid player and current Bayer Leverkusen coach.

“It involves changes throughout our whole culture, not just in football. Unfortunately, sometimes it takes such things to start wonderful things.
