Taylor Swift is encouraging her followers to vote by utilizing her platform, and it’s working.
The 33-year-old singer used her 272 million Instagram followers to encourage them to register to vote on Tuesday, September 19, in commemoration of National Voter Registration Day. She asked on her Instagram Story, “Are you registered to vote yet?” and included a link to Vote.org, a nonprofit that aids in voter registration.<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-197044″ src=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/theindiaprint.com-are-you-yet-enrolled-to-vote-taylor-swifts-appeal-results-in-35000-more-people-reg.jpg” alt=”theindiaprint.com are you yet enrolled to vote taylor swifts appeal results in 35000 more people reg” width=”1204″ height=”1809″ srcset=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/theindiaprint.com-are-you-yet-enrolled-to-vote-taylor-swifts-appeal-results-in-35000-more-people-reg.jpg 183w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/theindiaprint.com-are-you-yet-enrolled-to-vote-taylor-swifts-appeal-results-in-35000-more-people-reg-150×225.jpg 150w” sizes=”(max-width: 1204px) 100vw, 1204px” title=”Are you yet enrolled to vote?
“I’ve been very fortunate to lately run into so many of you guys during my US gigs. You have raised your voices, and I am aware of their strength. In order to employ them in this year’s elections, make sure you are prepared.

The devoted followers of the ‘Blank Space’ singer warmly embraced her call to action.

Vote.org’s communications director, Nick Morrow, claims that after Swift’s tweet, the website got an average of 13,000 new visitors every half-hour.

Morrow stated on X, “Let’s just say her reputation as a genius is really well-earned.

The next day, Andrea Hailey, CEO of Vote.org, provided further information about X. According to her, Swift’s postings sparked 35,000 new voter registrations, up 22.5 percent from 2022 and 115 percent among 18-year-olds compared to the previous year. A further 50,000 people, according to her, have validated their registration status.

“May these statistics act as our love letter to you for amplify voter voices!” said Hailey.

Swift had previously abstained from discussing her political views, which drew criticism from certain fans, especially during the 2016 presidential campaign involving Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.

She finally spoke out in 2018, openly endorsing Democratic senatorial candidate Phil Bredesen of Tennessee and criticizing his Republican opponent, then-Representative Marsha Blackburn, for her anti-LGBTQ and anti-women views.

In an Instagram post from October 2018, she said, “In the past, I’ve been hesitant to publicly voice my political opinions, but due to several events in my life and the world over the past two years, I feel very differently about that now.”

I support the battle for LGBTQ rights, and I think it is wrong to discriminate against anyone based on their sexual orientation or gender, she stated. “I think that institutional racism that still exists in our nation against people of color is horrifying, disgusting, and pervasive. I am unable to support a candidate that will not stand up for the dignity of ALL Americans, regardless of their gender, race, or sexual orientation.

Additionally, Swift backed Joe Biden for president in the 2020 election.
